The world’s largest randomised clinical trial of potential coronavirus treatments is well underway in the UK as part of the race to find a treatment. This study aims to compare several different treatments that may be useful for patients with COVID-19.
Dr Rory Convery, Consultant Respiratory Physician at Southern Health and Social Care Trust has been appointed as Principal Investigator for the Trial in NI which will aim to recruit 100 volunteers over an eight week period.
Definitive results on whether the treatments are safe and effective are expected within months and, if positive, they could potentially benefit hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.
