This week, we join healthcare teams across the UK in recognising Acute Oncology Awareness Week. Northern Ireland is proud to collaborate with UKAOS and our counterparts across the four nations to shine a spotlight on the Acute Oncology (AO) Service and the vital role it plays in patient care.
Throughout the week, each of the five HSC Trusts in Northern Ireland will be actively promoting their AO services to colleagues across all specialities. Awareness activities will include:
- Intranet features highlighting local AO teams
- Ward posters to inform staff and patients
- Informal information stands offering insights into AO services
These efforts aim to increase understanding of Acute Oncology and how it supports patients with cancer-related emergencies and complications.
