Celebrating success at the Advancing Healthcare Awards Northern Ireland 2026

02/11/2026

Cancer services colleagues and teams were recognised at the Advancing Healthcare Awards Northern Ireland 2026, held at La Mon Hotel and Country Club, Belfast, on Thursday 22 October 2026. The awards celebrate the innovation, leadership, compassion and dedication of allied health professionals and healthcare scientists across Northern Ireland.

Congratulations to the multi-professional team behind the Anal Cancer Awareness Day Pilot Project, which won the Award for Excellence in Cancer Care, sponsored by Macmillan Cancer Support. This UK-first initiative brought patients, carers, clinicians and charities together to address stigma, raise awareness and help shape better care and future support services for people affected by anal cancer.

Congratulations also go to the runners-up in the Award for Excellence in Cancer Care category:

  • From Waiting to Preparing: Transforming the Start of the Cancer Journey
  • Radiotherapy Physics Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy Service

We would also like to congratulate Bernie McGreevy, who won the Award for Masters Clinical Research for her project, ‘DECISION: An Ethical Decision-Making Framework for AHPs in Northern Ireland’, and Karen Bradley, who received the Award for Outstanding Leadership for ‘Advancing Radiotherapy Care Through Leadership and Workforce Transformation’.

Their achievements reflect their leadership, dedication and commitment to improving services, supporting patients and championing the valuable contribution of allied health professionals to cancer care.

Being recognised at this regional event is a significant achievement and highlights the excellent work taking place across cancer services. Congratulations to all the winners, runners-up and teams involved.
